The Fall
The Fall

You didn’t want to be bothered in your comfort zone.

Quite content you wished to stay, unbothered and all alone.

Baby eagle in a nest, in comfort you chose to stay.

So, mama eagle took your comfort, she plucked it all away.

With a push, your mother evicted you from your nuzzled nest.

Dear baby bird, momma eagle knew what was for your best.

But in your little mind, you thought that she lost hers.

Falling fast to the ground, you thought death it would infer.

But swiftly swooping momma caught you in the air,

just when in your little mind, you thought she didn’t care.

Then back to the nest, she flew you up by feathered wings.

Safe inside your nest, your heart began to sing.

Again, momma eagle pushes you, again you begin to fall.

Again, you begin to wonder if she ever cared at all!

A spark of anger kindles inside your little chest.

“My homicidal mother will never let me rest!”

Full of fear and anger, you flapped you little wings fast,

just wondering deep inside, how long that you could last.

Each time you're pushed, more slowly do you fall.

Then finally at last, you fall no more at all.

Sometimes we need a little push at the right time, in order to spread our wings

and fly into more freedom than we've ever known.

I'm thankful for the moms out there that encourage

their children to learn and grow

to become what they are meant to be.

The moms who teach their children

in the right way they should go,

so, they can not only survive,

but thrive and fly

in the freedom of their destinies.

Happy Mother's Day!
