The Busy Signal

God tried to call, but I was on the line.
He wanted to talk, but I was too busy with
all the cares the world placed on me with or
without my consent.
Maybe I'll have time later,
but when later comes,
I'm too tired and just want to relax.
Maybe tomorrow I'll find the time.
Night falls and so do I. . .
asleep.
I wake up to another day
He has created for me,
but the line is still busy.
This happens day after day,
and night after night...
Then, life throws a zinger at me.
I don't know what to do!
Miraculously, I find the time to call God.
It rings as He is never too busy to talk to me.
He decides not to answer right away,
so, it rings and rings.
He already knows why I'm calling,
and with mixed emotions He picks up the phone.
Part of Him is elated that I finally found
the time to talk to Him.
Another part is sad because
I only called because
I needed something from Him.
Still another part is angry because
He feels like He's being used
(and it's true).
Patiently He answers,
"I'm here."
I tell Him all about my problems,
my concerns, my needs,
and what I want.
He takes the time, busy as He is,
to listen to me.
Never do I ask Him about
what I can do for Him.
Never do I ask Him to help
someone else, unless it affects me.
On and on I go because
now I've finally found the time
that never seemed to be
available before....

So many of us get so wrapped up in the cares of this world,
that we don't take time to talk to God.
He loves us so much and longs
for us to talk to Him.
When we do talk to God, we need to also remember
those people in our lives that could use prayer.
Time spent with God is never wasted.
