Sea of Despair

Despair engulfs me as the waves stretch forth their
grasping hands far as the eyes can see in every direction.
For a drowning victim, there appears to be
no hope to find solid ground on which to stand.
I cry out, but my salty tears only
blend with the sea. For they are both
filled with depth and darkness.
It appears there is no way out.
Fatigue has got me firmly in her grips
trying to drag me to the
bottom of the Sea of Despair.
Will I ever come to the surface alive?
If I do, I must go soon before
the chance is gone.
What chance do I have?
I must throw off the unnecessary burdens of life
that anchor me down.
I must cast them on Him
because He cares for me.
Then I will become buoyant with
the Joy of the Lord
which is my strength.
As I float on the Plank of Faith
kicking with Joy,
I am guided by God
to the Shores of Hope
and stand firmly on
the Solid Rock of His Son.
