Hummingbirds Return

I look forward to your return. I prepared your favorite sugary drink.

It's clear with no dyes. Four cups of water to one cup of sugar.

It’s just the way you little guys love it.

Warmth fills the air, as the sun shines brightly.

Then at last, my long wait is over.

I see you flutter your little wings fast.

To one feeder, then to the next, you want to drink

 from as many feeders as you can.

You try to claim them all for yourself,

but your little friends will have none of that!

It’s comical to see you try to claim a feeder to yourself and they do the same.

There is plenty for everyone, but in fear

you make sure you are going to get yours.

The funny thing is people can be the same way.

God is a great provider, yet people are afraid

someone is going to get more than them.

Instead of seeking the Provider,

they seek the provision and lose sight of

God who freely gives to those He can trust.

Sometimes He gives people things to teach a valuable lesson.

God opens their eyes so they can see and realize that

the things they thought they needed were only empty shells.

Shells that were unable to fill the void that only He can fill.

God is willing to provide for all your needs

and the desires of your heart,

as long as you hold Him in your heart,

and not the perishable possessions.

We all need to understand and realize

above all else,

we so desperately need Him.
