Buried Seed

Buried Seed

A seed is buried in the earth.

Darkness surrounds it.

In the hidden place,

it secretly struggles to grow.

It wonders if it will ever

see the light of day again.

Miraculously, it knows the way

as it pushes and shoves

the heavy soil out of its way.

The struggle gives it strength

it has never known

as it peeks its head out

into the light of day.

The warm sun is inviting

on its grateful face.

It wiggles and frees

its leafy arms high

giving thanks for

the new life

it has been given.
